Our Class Categories
Preschool
Our preschool section is designed to lay a solid foundation for children aged 18 months to 4+. It is a specially-prepared Montessori environment for children.
Our teaching approach is child-centred. Our teachers neither impose on our pupils nor abandon them in total free play. Our classes are equipped with Montessori didactic materials in the following five Montessori curriculum areas: Practical Life Exercises, Sensorial Education, Mathematics, Language, and Cultural Subjects.
Elementary School
The Elementary Section of Greensprings School runs the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). The curriculum is child-centred, teacher friendly and it is used mostly by the best primary schools in Lagos and Nigeria.
The IPC focuses on developing children’s learning through a structure that is based on learning goals, and these goals include Subject Goals, Personal Learning Goals, and International Learning Goals.
Our Elementary School is made up of Early Elementary (Year 1 - 3) and Senior Elementary (Year 4 - 6).
Secondary School
The entry-level class into our Secondary School is Year 7, and in the first three years, our students are introduced to more advanced studies in English, Mathematics, and Sciences. At the end of the three years, our students sit for the Checkpoint Examination. As one of the best secondary schools in Nigeria, our students have to undergo the Checkpoint Examination, because it helps us to understand their strengths and weaknesses – in preparation for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) exam.
After the Checkpoint Examination, our students spend the next two years preparing for the IGCSE exam.
Sixth Form (IB Diploma)
The curriculum offered in our Sixth Form is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) curriculum. We are one of the fewcertified IB schools in Nigeria. As an International School, we adopted the IBDP in our Sixth Form because the core components of the curriculum hexagon support our educational model. Our IB Diploma Categories (IB 1: 16 years and above and IB 2: 17 years and above)
Like most Sixth Form colleges, we accept students with a minimum of 5 credits in their O’ Levels (GCSEs, IGCSEs or WASSCE). We would normally not ask your child to sit for an entrance test, as conditional offers are made based on O’ Level predicted grades. However, our school has some admission requirements, and your child will be expected to meet the requirements.
