Seasons Greetings From The Director of Education

As the year comes to an end, I look back on another very busy and successful term at Greensprings.

Our much anticipated “Thinking School” started this term.  The Thinking School approach has delivered Thinking lessons across Secondary; and it is fantastic just how positive the feedback has been from both students and teachers.

The Thinking School approach also teaches our students, as young as four years old, different models of thinking, for example, Thinking Hats. De Bono Thinking Hats have already been introduced and early next term, we will start to use Thinking Maps across the school.

Becoming a Thinking School is a journey that might take many years for us to fully implement. Nevertheless, it is a vital and exciting link between the academic rigour and external exams that students require and the ‘soft’ critical thinking skills that are vital for success in today’s modern world.

To wrap up the term, our Greensprings Montessori Centre (GMC) in Lagos got accredited by the United States-based Montessori Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) as a training centre for aspiring Montessori teachers.

This accreditation confirms our commitment to excellence and validates our training methods to be first class and at the same level as Montessori teacher training offered anywhere in the world. This is a huge testament to Mrs Koiki, and her vision. Not forgetting, the hard work that Mr Ogunkanmbi (Head of Greensprings Training College) and his training team, put in  to making her vision a reality.

So as we round up 2017 and look forward with enthusiasm and expectation to 2018, I would like to say a few thank yous.

To our teachers, I say thank you for putting all your energy, passion and enthusiasm into your work. Without the teachers, Greensprings cannot be successful.

To our parents, thank you for believing in us and all your efforts in working with us. A good home-school collaboration is always a vital element in maximising students’ positive engagement and achievement in school.

To our students, thank for your hard work, and all the energy you bring to school. It is a blessing to witness you grow, learn and have fun.

In 2018, we will continue to work towards our vision of leading inclusive, holistic, innovative, world class education in Africa and in so doing, continue to refine our programmes to match the needs of our  students. Helping them achieve their goals and ensuring their experience at Greensprings is valuable and memorable.

I wish you and your families a relaxing and safe holiday, and we look forward to working with you again in 2018.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
